Love is not a feeling; it is a frequency you can broadcast.
By Paul Wagner
Affirmation
""I am a guide of loving-kindness, radiating healing to myself and all beings.""
The color pink has been hijacked. We associate it with bubblegum, with superficiality, with a soft and saccharine version of love that has nothing to do with the real thing. But the true pink, the pink of a dawn sky, of a blooming lotus, of the inside of a seashell, holds a powerful frequency. It is the color of the heart, not the sentimental, greeting-card heart, but the fierce, compassionate, and unconditionally loving heart of the universe. Pink Light Yoga is not about thinking pink thoughts. It is the practice of becoming a conscious antenna for this frequency, of tuning your entire being to the vibration of loving-kindness and broadcasting it into every cell of your body and out into the world.
This isn’t just spiritual poetry. It’s science. The HeartMath Institute has done new research on the power of the heart. They’ve shown that the heart has its own complex nervous system, the “heart-brain,” which sends more information to the cranial brain than the other way around. When we experience emotions like love, gratitude, and compassion, our heart rhythm becomes coherent, like a smooth, sine wave. This state of heart coherence has a deep impact on our entire physiology. It synchronizes the nervous system, boosts the immune system, and reduces stress hormones. In essence, when you cultivate the feeling of loving-kindness, you are creating a measurable, biological state of healing.
The practice of visualizing a pink light is a powerful way to activate this state of heart coherence. The color itself acts as a focal point, a symbolic anchor for the feeling of unconditional love. As you breathe in this pink light, you are not just imagining; you are instructing your nervous system to shift into a state of safety, connection, and healing.
For over 2,500 years, Buddhists have been practicing a form of Pink Light Yoga called *Metta*, or loving-kindness meditation. It is considered one of the most powerful practices for purifying the heart and dissolving the illusion of separation. The practice begins with cultivating a feeling of loving-kindness towards oneself, often repeating phrases like, “May I be happy. May I be well. May I be safe. May I be peaceful and at ease.”
In the Metta Sutta, the Buddha instructs his monks to radiate this loving-kindness in all directions, to all beings, without exception: “Just as a mother would protect her only child at the risk of her own life, even so, let him cultivate a boundless heart towards all beings. Let his thoughts of boundless love pervade the whole world, above, below, and across, without any obstruction, without any hatred, without any enmity.”
Pink Light Yoga is a physical and visual extension of this practice. You don’t just think the thoughts; you feel them in your body. You see the light. You breathe it into the dark, wounded places within yourself. And then, you radiate it outward, to your loved ones, to your enemies, to all beings everywhere. It is a radical act of spiritual generosity, a declaration that your love is not a scarce resource to be hoarded, but an infinite wellspring to be shared.
I once coached a woman, named Jessica, who was in a deeply painful and estranged relationship with her mother. They hadn’t spoken in years, and the anger and resentment were eating her alive. She had tried everything to forgive her mother, but she couldn’t. The hurt was too deep.
I introduced her to the practice of Pink Light Yoga. At first, she resisted. “I can’t send love to her,” she said. “She doesn’t deserve it.” I told her to forget about her mother for a while. I instructed her to simply breathe in the pink light for herself, to fill her own heart with the compassion she so desperately needed. She did this every day for a month. Slowly, something began to soften in her. The hard shell of her anger began to crack.
One day, in the middle of her practice, an image of her mother as a young, vulnerable child popped into her head. For the first time, she saw her mother not as a monster, but as a wounded human being. Without forcing it, she felt a wave of compassion. She visualized the pink light surrounding her mother, holding her in a field of unconditional love. A few weeks later, her mother called her out of the blue. They had a difficult, tearful, but ultimately healing conversation. The pink light didn’t magically erase the past. But it created the energetic conditions for a new kind of relationship to be born, one founded not on obligation and resentment, but on a shared and spacious compassion.
This card is an invitation to activate the healing power of your own heart. It is a call to move beyond the limited, conditional love of the ego and to tap into the boundless, unconditional love of the universe. You are a guide. Stop waiting for love to come to you. Turn on your light.
This is a guided meditation to activate the frequency of Pink Light Yoga. Find a comfortable, seated position. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
1. **Bring your awareness to your heart center.** Place a hand over your heart if that feels right. Imagine a small, warm spark of pink light in the center of your chest. 2. **With each inhale, imagine you are breathing into that spark,** causing it to grow brighter, warmer, and more expansive. With each exhale, let go of any tension or resistance in your body. 3. **As the ball of pink light grows,** feel it filling your entire chest cavity, then radiating down into your belly, your legs, and your feet, and up into your shoulders, your arms, your neck, and your head. Feel every cell in your body being bathed in this warm, loving, and healing light. 4. **Now, begin to radiate this light outward.** Visualize the pink light extending beyond your body, filling the room you are in. Then, extend it further, to your entire neighborhood, your city, your country. 5. **Bring to mind someone you love.** See them in your mind’s eye and surround them with this beautiful pink light. Silently wish them well: “May you be happy. May you be well. May you be safe.” 6. **Now, bring to mind someone with whom you have a difficult relationship.** See if you can, without forcing it, extend this same pink light to them. Hold them in this field of compassion, for your own sake, not for theirs. Wish them well. 7. **Finally, let the light expand to encompass all living beings,** without exception. Rest in this state of boundless, loving-kindness for as long as you like.
When the Pink Light Yoga card appears, it is a powerful message from your heart. It signifies a deep need for self-love and compassion. You may have been too hard on yourself lately, caught in a cycle of self-criticism and judgment. This card is a gentle but firm reminder to soften, to forgive yourself, and to treat yourself with the same kindness you would offer to a beloved friend.
This card can also indicate a need for healing in your relationships. There may be a conflict that needs to be resolved, or a relationship that needs a dose of unconditional love. The Pink Light Yoga card invites you to be the source of that healing. It’s not about waiting for the other person to change; it’s about shifting your own energy from one of blame and resentment to one of compassion and understanding. This card is a call to open your heart, to let love in, and to let love out. It is a reminder that love is the most powerful healing force in the universe.
