The dance of heart tap in the theater of the self.
By Paul Wagner
Affirmation
""I trust my heart's wisdom and act with spiritual courage.""
You know that moment when your heart suddenly knocks on your chest wall? Like someone's literally tapping from inside, trying to get your attention? That's what I call the Heart Tap. It's not anxiety or fear, though those can hijack the feeling. This is different. This is your soul saying, "Hey, we need to talk."
Here's the thing: your heart knows things your mind hasn't figured out yet. The ancient teachings from the Bhagavad Gita talk about this inner knowing, this divine intelligence that lives in the spiritual heart. Krishna tells Arjuna to listen to that inner voice, even when it's scary as hell. Especially then.
I've been doing readings for thirty years, and I can tell you this: every single person I've worked with has felt that Heart Tap at some point. It comes when you're standing at a crossroads. When you know you need to leave that job, have that conversation, make that move, or speak that truth. Your logical mind starts making lists of why you shouldn't. But your heart? It just keeps tapping.
The Tao Te Ching calls this "wu wei" - effortless action. But here's what's interesting: it only feels effortless when you're aligned with your heart's wisdom. When you're fighting against it, everything becomes a struggle. Think about that.
Honestly, we've been trained to ignore the Heart Tap. Society loves the mind. Logic is safe. Predictable. But the heart? The heart asks us to trust something we can't see or prove. It asks us to take spiritual courage and leap into the unknown. Are you with me?
In Advaita Vedanta, they say the heart is where the "I Am" consciousness lives. Not the ego "I am this" or "I am that." Just pure "I Am." When you feel that tap, you're being invited to act from that place of pure being, not from fear or conditioning or what others expect.
Look, I get it. Following your heart can feel terrifying. What if you're wrong? What if you fail? What if people think you've lost your mind? But here's the truth: the Heart Tap isn't asking you to be reckless. It's asking you to be real. To show up as who you actually are, not who you think you should be.
Truth is, every time I've ignored that inner tapping, I've regretted it. Every single time. And when I've listened, even when things got messy or uncomfortable, I've never regretted following that guidance. Never.
The heart speaks in feelings, not words. It communicates through sudden knowings, through that sense of rightness or wrongness that hits you before your mind can analyze it. It's that pull toward certain people, places, opportunities. It's also that clear "no" that rises up when something isn't aligned with your path.
Seriously, your heart is your most sophisticated guidance system. It's connected to something way bigger than your individual story. When you feel that tap, you're being invited to participate in a larger dance of life. To trust that the intelligence that grows flowers and moves planets might just know something about your next step too.
But here's what's beautiful: once you start honoring the Heart Tap, it gets easier to recognize. Like tuning into a radio station. At first it's all static and you're not sure what you're hearing. But the more you practice listening, the clearer the signal becomes. Right?
This isn't about abandoning reason or making impulsive decisions. It's about integrating heart wisdom with practical action. The heart provides the direction, the mind figures out the how. They're meant to work together, not against each other.
Start paying attention to what I call the Heart Tap moments throughout your day. You know, those subtle (or not so subtle) moments when something inside you perks up or pulls back? Don't analyze it right away. Just notice it.
Here's what I want you to try: put your hand on your heart and breathe into that space for a few minutes each morning. Ask your heart, "What do I need to know today?" Then listen. Not with your ears, but with your whole being. See what arises.
When you feel that inner tap about a decision, big or small, pause before your mind jumps in with reasons why you can't or shouldn't. Give your heart's wisdom at least equal time with your mental chatter. Are you with me?
Practice taking small heart-centered actions first. Maybe it's texting that friend you've been thinking about, or taking a different route home because something inside you says "go this way." Build trust with the small stuff before the big life decisions come knocking.
Honestly, keep a Heart Tap journal. Write down when you feel that inner guidance and whether you followed it or not. Note what happened either way. You'll start seeing patterns. You'll start trusting that inner compass more and more.
When this card appears, your heart is literally trying to get your attention right now. There's something brewing in your life that requires spiritual courage, and your inner wisdom is knocking. Hard.
Look, this isn't about making rash decisions. It's about finally listening to that persistent inner voice that's been trying to guide you toward your truth. Maybe there's a conversation you've been avoiding, a dream you've been dismissing, or a change you know you need to make but keep talking yourself out of.
The appearance of Heart Tap means it's time to stop overthinking and start feeling your way forward. Trust is required here. Not blind faith, but the kind of deep knowing that comes when you align with your authentic self. Your heart has intelligence that your mind can't access through analysis alone.
This card often shows up when you're at a threshold. Something in your life wants to shift, evolve, or be expressed more fully. The universe is supporting you in taking that leap, but you've got to be willing to jump. Are you ready to trust what your heart already knows?
What has my heart been trying to tell me that I've been avoiding or dismissing?
When was the last time I felt that inner 'tap' and what happened when I followed it (or didn't)?
What would I do right now if I trusted my heart's guidance completely?
