The Teaching

Here's the thing about acting from the heart: it's not some fluffy, feel-good concept. It's the most practical, powerful way to live. I've been doing this work for thirty years, and honestly? The people who change their lives the fastest are the ones who stop thinking their way through everything and start feeling their way forward.

Know what I mean? Your heart has intelligence. Ancient wisdom traditions have been saying this forever. The Tao Te Ching talks about wu wei, this effortless action that comes from being in harmony with life's natural flow. The Bhagavad Gita teaches about dharma, acting from your deepest truth without attachment to results. And Advaita Vedanta points to this: when you drop the mental noise and act from your essential nature, magic happens.

But here's what's interesting. Most of us were trained to distrust the heart. We were taught to analyze everything, make pro and con lists, think it through from every angle. And look, thinking has its place, but when it becomes your only way of navigating life? You're missing out on your most reliable guidance system.

I remember working with a client who'd been stuck in the same job for eight years. Hated it. Every session, we'd talk about leaving, and she'd list all the logical reasons why she couldn't. The money, the benefits, what people would think. Sound familiar? Then one day, something shifted. She stopped talking about the reasons and started feeling into what her heart was telling her. Within three months, she'd started her own business. Within a year, she was making more money doing what she loved.

Truth is, your heart knows things your mind hasn't figured out yet. It can sense the energy of situations, the potential in people, the right timing for decisions. It's not emotional reactivity, which is different. That's fear dressed up as feelings. I'm talking about the deeper knowing that comes from your center.

Think about the last time you had a gut feeling about something and followed it. How did that turn out? Now think about a time you ignored that inner knowing and went with logic instead. Different story, right?

The ancient sages understood this. They knew that when you're connected to your heart space, you're connected to something larger than your individual self. You're tapping into the intelligence of life itself. Your actions become part of a bigger flow, a cosmic dance that knows where it's going even when your mind doesn't.

This doesn't mean you never use your brain. It means you let your heart lead and your mind follow. The heart chooses the direction, the mind figures out the how. It's like... your heart is the navigator, and your mind is the GPS. Both are important, but you need to know which one's in charge.

Here's what I've noticed in thousands of sessions: when people act from the heart, synchronicities increase. Doors open. The right people show up. Resources appear. It's not magic, exactly. It's more like you're finally swimming with the current instead of against it.

And yes, sometimes acting from the heart means making choices that don't make sense to other people. Sometimes it means disappointing folks who want you to stay small and safe. But here's the thing: your heart's wisdom includes the courage to handle whatever comes up. When you trust it, it gives you everything you need to work through the consequences of following its guidance.

The Tao talks about water, how it's soft but can wear down the hardest stone. That's heart-centered action. It doesn't force, it flows. It doesn't fight, it finds the way through. And over time, that gentle persistence reshapes everything in its path.

How to Embody This Teaching

So how do you actually do this? How do you move from thinking your way through life to feeling your way forward?

Start simple. Before any decision, big or small, take three deep breaths and drop into your chest area. Not your head, your heart space. Ask yourself: 'What does my heart want here?' Then listen. Not with your ears, with your whole being. Feel into the different options and notice what expands your energy versus what contracts it.

I teach my clients this exercise I call the Heart Check. Several times a day, just pause and ask: 'Am I acting from love or from fear right now?' It's amazing how this simple question can redirect your entire day. Fear-based action feels tight, urgent, like you're pushing against something. Heart-based action feels open, flowing, like you're being carried by something larger.

Practice with small things first. Which route to take home. What to eat for lunch. What to say to your partner when they're stressed. Feel into the options instead of thinking through them. You're training yourself to trust a different kind of intelligence.

And here's something crucial: when you get that heart-knowing, act on it quickly. The mind will try to talk you out of it. It'll come up with all sorts of logical reasons why the heart's wisdom doesn't make sense. But the longer you wait, the more the mental chatter takes over. Trust the first hit, the immediate knowing.

Are you with me? This isn't about being impulsive or emotional. It's about accessing a deeper intelligence that includes both feeling and wisdom. Your heart wants what's best for everyone involved, not just you. When you're truly in that space, your actions serve the highest good.

When This Card Appears

When this card shows up, it's time to get out of your head and into your heart. Seriously. You've been overthinking something, and all that mental spinning is keeping you stuck. Your heart knows the way forward, but you haven't been listening.

This card often appears when you're facing a decision that doesn't make logical sense but feels absolutely right. Maybe it's time to leave that secure job for something unknown but exciting. Maybe it's time to have that difficult conversation you've been avoiding. Maybe it's time to trust someone or something that your mind says is risky.

Look, the universe is asking you to lead with love instead of fear. To choose expansion over contraction. To trust that when you act from your authentic center, everything else will align. This doesn't mean it'll be easy or comfortable. Heart-centered action often requires courage because it asks you to be vulnerable, to show up as who you really are.

If you're feeling confused about next steps, this card is saying: stop trying to figure it out and start feeling it out. Your heart has been sending you signals, but you've been too busy analyzing to notice. Get quiet, drop in, and listen. The guidance is there, waiting for you to trust it enough to act on it.

This is also a card about spiritual courage. The willingness to let your deeper wisdom guide your life, even when other people don't understand. Even when it doesn't fit the conventional path. Your soul is calling, and it's time to answer from the heart.
