The sacred dance of the soul with the world.
By Paul Wagner
Affirmation
""I am the divine in action, expressing love through every breath and gesture.""
Here's the thing about engagement: it's not about doing more stuff. It's about showing up so completely that the line between you and the action disappears. Know what I mean? I've watched thousands of people struggle with this, thinking they need to hustle harder or find their passion. But that's missing the point entirely.
Look, the Bhagavad Gita isn't just some ancient text collecting dust. It's a manual for living that cuts right to the heart of what it means to be fully alive. When Krishna talks to Arjuna about karma yoga, he's not giving him a productivity system. He's revealing something deep: the moment you release attachment to results, action becomes worship.
Think about that. Every breath, every step, every conversation becomes sacred when you stop trying to control the outcome. Honestly, I see this shift happen in my sessions all the time. Someone comes in completely burned out from forcing their life to look a certain way. Then they discover this deeper truth: you are not the doer. You're the instrument through which life expresses itself.
But here's what's interesting about Advaita Vedanta. It doesn't say "don't act." It says "act from wholeness." There's a massive difference. When you're operating from that understanding that everything is one consciousness appearing as many, your engagement becomes effortless. Natural. Like a river flowing to the ocean.
Truth is, most of us have been conditioned to think engagement means grinding it out. Pushing through. Making things happen. But that's ego engagement. That's the small self trying to prove its existence. Real engagement? That's when you become so present, so aligned with what wants to emerge, that you're no longer in your own way.
I remember this client who was killing herself trying to launch a business. Everything was struggle. Then we worked on this teaching, and she started asking different questions. Instead of "How do I make this happen?" she began wondering "What wants to happen through me?" Game changer. Seriously. The business took off not because she worked harder, but because she aligned with the natural flow.
Dharma isn't your job title or your five-year plan. Dharma is what happens when you show up so authentically that your very presence serves the whole. Are you with me? It's like tuning into a frequency that was always there, waiting for you to stop the mental noise long enough to hear it.
And here's something wild: when you engage this way, the universe starts conspiring with you. Not because you're special, but because you've stopped fighting the current. You've become the current. That's selfless service in action. Not martyrdom or people-pleasing, but recognizing that serving others is serving yourself because there's no real separation.
Look, I've spent thirty years watching people transform their relationship with action. The ones who find real fulfillment? They're the ones who learned to act from love instead of fear. From wholeness instead of lack. From presence instead of projection. They engage fully not because they have to, but because they can't help but express what they are.
Start your day by asking: "What wants to move through me today?" Seriously, try this. Sit quietly for five minutes and feel into that question. Don't think your way to an answer. Feel your way there. Let the response arise from your gut, your heart, your whole being.
Throughout the day, practice what I call "sacred pausing." Before you get into any task, take one conscious breath and set an intention: "May this action serve the highest good." Watch how this simple practice transforms ordinary moments into offerings. Washing dishes becomes meditation. Answering emails becomes service. Even difficult conversations become opportunities for love to express itself.
Here's something powerful: at the end of each day, reflect on moments when you felt most alive, most in flow. What was different about your engagement in those moments? Were you trying to control or were you allowing? Were you pushing or were you dancing? Start noticing the patterns. Your body knows the difference between forced action and aligned action.
Practice releasing attachment to outcomes. This doesn't mean you don't care about results. It means you care more about the quality of your presence than the specific shape things take. When you catch yourself gripping too tightly to how something "should" go, breathe and ask: "How can I serve this situation?" Let that question guide your next move.
When this card shows up, life is asking you to shift from effortful striving to inspired action. You're being called to examine where you might be forcing outcomes instead of allowing them to emerge naturally. This is your invitation to discover what engagement looks like when it comes from wholeness rather than neediness.
Pay attention to areas of your life that feel stuck or exhausting. Chances are, you're operating from ego-driven engagement rather than soul-centered service. This card is asking: What if you approached these situations as opportunities to express love instead of chances to prove yourself? What would change if you trusted the process instead of trying to control it?
This is also a call to examine your relationship with dharma. Are you following someone else's blueprint for success, or are you listening to the unique song that wants to sing itself through you? The universe is ready to support you, but first you need to get out of your own way. Trust what wants to emerge through your authentic engagement with life.
Where in my life am I forcing outcomes instead of allowing them to unfold naturally?
What would change if I approached my daily actions as sacred offerings rather than personal achievements?
When do I feel most alive and in flow, and how can I bring that quality of presence to all areas of my life?
