The dance of i am love in the theater of the self.
By Paul Wagner
Affirmation
"I am the love I have always been seeking"
Here's the thing about love... most of us spend our whole lives looking for it outside ourselves, when the deepest spiritual truth is that we ARE love. Not seeking it, not earning it, not finding it. Being it. I've sat with thousands of people over thirty years, and honestly? The moment someone really gets this... everything changes.
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us that our true nature is pure consciousness, and consciousness itself is love in action. Krishna tells Arjuna that when we stop identifying with the small self... the ego, the story, the endless wanting... we discover what we've always been. The Tao says it beautifully: "The sage is guided by what he feels and not by what he sees." What you feel, at your core, is love. Are you with me?
But here's what's interesting. This isn't some fluffy, feel-good concept. This is spiritual courage at its finest. Know what I mean? It takes serious guts to show up as love in a world that's forgotten what love actually is. When someone cuts you off in traffic, when your heart's been broken, when the news makes you want to hide under the covers... that's when being love becomes an act of rebellion.
I remember sitting with a woman whose husband had just left her after twenty-five years. She was devastated, angry, talking about how love had failed her. And I said, "What if love didn't fail you? What if you ARE the love, and nothing outside you can change that?" Seriously. She looked at me like I was crazy. But then something shifted. The tears changed. Instead of tears of loss, they became tears of recognition.
The Advaita tradition gets this completely. There's no separation between you and the love you're seeking. Ramana Maharshi used to say that the "I am" itself is love. Not "I am loving" or "I am loved," but "I AM love." Think about that. Your very existence is an expression of love. Your breath, your heartbeat, your capacity to feel... it's all love in motion.
Truth is, we've been conditioned to believe love is something we do, something we give and receive, something that comes and goes. But what if love is what we ARE? What if every moment of seeking love outside ourselves has been missing the point entirely? The mystics knew this. The Buddha knew this. Jesus knew this when he said "love your neighbor as yourself"... because your neighbor IS yourself, and yourself IS love.
Look, I'm not saying this is easy to live. Wild, right? Some days I forget completely and find myself looking for validation, for someone to make me feel worthy of love. But then I remember... oh yeah, I'm not seeking love, I'm BEING love. And suddenly everything shifts. The way I talk to the grocery store clerk. The way I respond to my own mistakes. The way I hold space for someone else's pain.
This is where spiritual courage comes in. When you know you are love, you stop playing small. You stop hiding your light because you're afraid someone won't like it. You stop people-pleasing because you're not trying to earn something you already are. You become dangerous to the systems that depend on you feeling separate and small.
Here's what I've learned in all these years of practice: the moment you truly embody "I am love," you become a force for healing in the world. Not because you're trying to fix anything, but because love naturally heals whatever it touches. It's like turning on a light in a dark room. The darkness doesn't fight back... it just dissolves.
The beautiful thing about this teaching is that it doesn't require you to become anything you're not. You're not working toward love, you're working FROM love. You're not trying to be more loving, you're recognizing the love you've always been. Right? It's already here, already whole, already perfect.
And honestly? The world needs you to remember this. Not in some abstract way, but in the grocery line, in difficult conversations, in moments of fear or anger or loneliness. When you show up as love... not performing love, not thinking about love, but BEING love... you give everyone around you permission to remember who they really are too.
Start your day by placing your hand on your heart and saying "I am love" three times. Not as an affirmation you're trying to believe, but as a truth you're remembering. Feel it in your body. Let it settle into your bones.
Throughout your day, catch yourself when you're seeking love or validation from outside sources. When you notice it, pause and ask: "What would I do right now if I truly knew I was love itself?" Then do that thing. Seriously. Whether it's speaking up in a meeting, being gentler with yourself after a mistake, or simply smiling at a stranger.
Practice "love as identity" meditation. Sit quietly and instead of sending love or thinking about love, simply rest in the knowing that you ARE love. When thoughts come up, don't push them away... just recognize that the awareness noticing the thoughts is itself love in action.
Here's a powerful one: for one week, end every interaction... texting, phone calls, conversations... by silently saying "from love to love." You're acknowledging that the love in you is speaking to the love in them. Watch how this changes everything. The quality of your presence, the depth of your listening, even how people respond to you.
And honestly? Be patient with yourself. Some days you'll forget completely and get caught up in old patterns of seeking. That's perfect. Just notice, smile, and remember: you're not working toward becoming love, you're practicing remembering the love you've always been.
When this card appears, it's time to stop seeking and start being. The universe is reminding you that you ARE the love you've been looking for everywhere else. This isn't about becoming more loving or finding the right person to love you... this is about recognizing your fundamental nature as love itself.
If you're going through heartbreak, this card says: you are not broken. The love you are cannot be diminished by someone else's inability to see it. If you're feeling lonely, this card whispers: you are never alone because you ARE the love that connects all things. If you're struggling with self-worth, this card declares: your worth is not something you earn... you ARE worth, you ARE love.
This card often appears when you're ready for a major shift in how you relate to yourself and the world. It's calling you to step into spiritual courage, to show up as the love you are rather than the love you think you should be. Right? Stop performing, start being. Stop seeking, start radiating.
Pay attention to opportunities this week to embody love rather than seek it. Notice where you've been giving your power away to external sources of validation. This card is your invitation to come home to yourself... to the love you've always been, the love you came here to share.
