The dance of faith in the theater of the self.
By Paul Wagner
Affirmation
""I trust the unfolding and know that I am always guided.""
Here's the thing about faith... it's not what they taught you in Sunday school. Real faith isn't about believing harder or pretending to know things you don't. It's something way more radical than that.
Faith is your natural state, honestly. You were born with it. Think about it... when you were a kid, you didn't question whether the sun would rise tomorrow or whether your heart would keep beating. You just knew. That's faith. Pure, simple, uncluttered by doubt and overthinking.
The Tao Te Ching talks about wu wei, this effortless action that comes from complete trust in the natural order of things. That's faith in motion, right? When you're in that flow state, you're not forcing anything. You're not gripping tight with white knuckles. You're just moving with what is, trusting that the next step will appear when you need it.
And the Bhagavad Gita? Krishna tells Arjuna to act without attachment to results. That's faith too. Not the wishful thinking kind, but the deep knowing that when you do your part with love and intention, the universe handles the rest. Are you with me?
Look, I've been reading for people for three decades now, and here's what I've learned: the ones who suffer most are the ones who've lost touch with this natural faith. They're trying to control everything, predict everything, know everything before they take a single step. Exhausting, right?
But here's what's interesting... faith isn't passive. It's not sitting around waiting for miracles. True faith is deeply active. It's saying yes to life even when you can't see the whole staircase. It's taking the next right step even when the fog is thick.
In Advaita Vedanta, they call it surrender to the Self. Not giving up, but recognizing that there's a deeper intelligence at work than your worried mind can comprehend. When you align with that, magic happens. Seriously.
I remember this client of mine, Sarah. She'd been paralyzed by fear for months, unable to make any decisions about her career. Every reading, same energy: stuck, spinning, terrified of making the wrong choice. Then one day she said, 'I'm just going to trust that I can't screw this up.' Not in a reckless way, but from this deep place of knowing that life was for her, not against her.
Six months later? Dream job. Perfect fit. But more than that, she'd found her faith again. That unshakeable knowing that she was being guided, supported, loved by something bigger than her fears.
Truth is, faith isn't about having all the answers. It's about being okay with the questions. It's trusting that you're exactly where you need to be, even when it feels messy or uncertain or completely wrong.
When you're in your faith, you stop trying to be God. You stop thinking it's all up to you. You start collaborating with life instead of wrestling with it. Know what I mean?
Wild, right? The very thing we think we need to cultivate or earn or prove... it's already here. It's already you. Faith isn't something you do. It's something you remember.
Want to reconnect with your natural faith? Start simple.
Every morning, before you check your phone or start planning your day, take three deep breaths and say this: 'I trust that today will unfold exactly as it needs to.' Not because you're naive, but because you're remembering something deeper than worry.
Throughout the day, notice when you're gripping. When you catch yourself trying to control outcomes or force solutions, pause. Put your hand on your heart and ask: 'What would it look like to trust right now?' Then listen. Not to your fearful thoughts, but to that quiet knowing underneath.
At night, before sleep, reflect on three things that happened that day that you couldn't have planned or controlled. Maybe someone called at the perfect time. Maybe you found a parking spot when you needed it. Maybe you had an insight in the shower. These aren't coincidences... they're faith in action.
Here's a practice I love: the next time you're facing a decision, write down all your options. Then put the list away for 24 hours. Don't think about it, don't analyze it. Just live your life. When you come back to it, notice which option feels most aligned, most alive. That's your faith speaking.
Trust that voice. It knows things your worried mind doesn't.
When Faith shows up in your reading, it's time to stop overthinking and start trusting. You've been trying to figure everything out with your mind, but life is asking you to lead with your heart instead.
This card often appears when you're facing uncertainty or feeling like you need more information before you can move forward. But here's the message: you already know everything you need to know for the next step. You just need to trust it.
Maybe you've been waiting for guarantees, for someone else to validate your choices, for the perfect plan to appear. Faith is saying: the path appears as you walk it. Your job isn't to see the whole journey... it's to take the next loving step.
If you're dealing with a specific situation, this card is reminding you that you're being guided and supported in ways you might not be able to see yet. What feels like chaos might actually be things rearranging themselves in your favor. Seriously.
Faith also shows up when it's time to let go of old stories about how hard life is or how you always get the short end of the stick. Those stories aren't serving you anymore. Time to remember that life is actually conspiring for your highest good.
Bottom line: relax your grip. Trust the process. You're exactly where you need to be.
What would I do differently if I truly trusted that everything is working out for my highest good?
Where in my life am I trying to control outcomes instead of trusting the process?
What evidence can I find that I've been guided and supported, even in difficult times?
