The powerful act of choosing love over fear in every moment.
By Paul Wagner
Affirmation
"I lead with love, knowing it is the most powerful force in existence."
Leading with love sounds soft. It sounds naive. In a world that rewards aggression, competition, and dominance, choosing love as your primary strategy seems like a recipe for being trampled. But here is what I have learned after decades of working with people: love is not soft. Love is the most powerful force in the universe. And those who learn to lead with it become unstoppable.
The Tao Te Ching says, "I have three treasures which I hold and keep. The first is mercy; the second is economy; the third is daring not to be ahead of others." Mercy, love, is listed first. Before efficiency. Before courage. Because without love, everything else becomes hollow.
Leading with love does not mean being a pushover. It does not mean accepting abuse. It does not mean pretending everything is fine when it is not. It means choosing compassion over contempt. It means seeing the humanity in others, even when they are behaving badly. It means making decisions from your heart rather than your ego.
Truth is, I've watched countless people try to build success through fear, manipulation, and control. Some even achieve short-term gains. But here's what I've noticed: those victories feel empty. They leave you isolated. They require constant vigilance. Think about that. You're always looking over your shoulder, wondering who might betray you next.
But love? Love builds something different. It creates loyalty that can't be bought. It inspires people to give their best not because they have to, but because they want to. When you lead with love, you're not just managing people... you're touching their souls. Are you with me?
Here's the thing that blew my mind: leading with love actually requires incredible strength. It takes courage to stay open when someone hurts you. It takes wisdom to set boundaries without shutting down your heart. It takes discipline to respond with kindness when your ego wants revenge. Seriously. Try it sometime. It's harder than being a jerk.
But here's what's interesting. When you commit to this path, something magical happens. People start responding differently to you. Conflicts that used to escalate begin to dissolve. Teams that were fractured start healing. Even difficult personalities begin to soften around you. Know what I mean? Love is contagious in the best possible way.
Look, I'm not talking about some fluffy, everything-is-beautiful approach to life. I'm talking about fierce love. Protective love. Love that stands up for what's right. Love that speaks truth even when it's uncomfortable. Love that refuses to participate in the small-minded games that keep us separated from each other.
Start small. Today, in every interaction, ask yourself: "How can I respond with love here?" When your colleague irritates you, when your partner leaves dishes in the sink, when the cashier is having a bad day... pause. Take a breath. Choose love over reactivity.
Practice what I call the Love Filter. Before you speak, before you act, run it through this simple question: "Is this coming from love or from fear?" If it's fear... ego, pride, the need to be right... stop. Redirect. Find the loving response. It might be setting a boundary. It might be having a difficult conversation. But do it from love, not from hurt.
Here's something practical: start your day by setting the intention to lead with love. Actually say it out loud. "Today, I choose love as my compass." Then pay attention throughout your day. Notice when you slip into old patterns of judgment or control. Gently redirect yourself. No shame in the slip... just awareness and choice. Right?
And honestly? Practice loving yourself first. You can't give what you don't have. When you mess up (and you will), respond to yourself with the same compassion you'd offer a good friend. This self-love becomes the foundation for loving leadership with others.
When this card appears, the universe is calling you to step into your highest leadership potential. You're being asked to drop the armor and lead from your heart. This isn't about weakness... it's about accessing your greatest strength.
Maybe you're facing a conflict at work. Maybe your family is going through a rough patch. Maybe you're in a position where others are looking to you for direction. Whatever the situation, love is your answer. Not love that ignores problems, but love that faces them with courage and compassion.
This card often shows up when you've been trying to control outcomes through force or manipulation. The message is clear: there's a better way. Lead with love, and watch how quickly things begin to shift. People respond to authentic care in ways that fear-based leadership simply can't match.
Sometimes this card appears as validation. You've been leading with love, and maybe others have questioned your approach. Maybe they've called you soft or naive. This card confirms you're on the right path. Keep going. Love wins in the end, always.
