Sex: The fierce fire that burns chains, inviting freedom through raw, sacred surrender.
By Paul Wagner
Affirmation
""My sexuality is sacred fire that connects me to the divine creative force moving through all life.""
Look, let's talk about sex the way nobody wants to talk about sex. Not the hushed whispers or the locker room bragging or the clinical textbook definitions. I'm talking about the real thing. The sacred fire that lives in your body and connects you to the most powerful creative force in the universe.
Here's the thing: we've been taught that sexuality is either dirty or transcendent, either shameful or sacred. But honestly? That's missing the whole point. Your sexuality isn't separate from your spirituality. It IS your spirituality expressing itself through flesh and desire and that electric moment when two souls recognize each other through their bodies.
I've sat with thousands of people over the years, and you know what I've learned? The deepest wounds often live in our relationship with our own sexual energy. Not just the trauma (though that's real and needs healing), but the everyday shame we carry about wanting what we want. About enjoying pleasure. About being human animals with appetites and hungers and this incredible capacity for physical joy.
Think about that. We live in bodies designed for pleasure, and then we're taught to apologize for it. Wild, right?
But here's what's interesting: when you start to heal that split between your sexuality and your spirituality, everything changes. Your creativity explodes. Your confidence soars. You start showing up in the world with this grounded, authentic power that people can feel from across the room. Know what I mean?
Truth is, sexual energy isn't just about sex. It's life force. It's the raw creative power that moves through everything. It's what makes flowers bloom and artists create and lovers find each other in crowded rooms. When you learn to honor this energy instead of hiding from it, you're basically learning to honor life itself.
And intimacy? Real intimacy isn't just about getting naked with someone else. It starts with getting naked with yourself. Literally and figuratively. Can you look at your own body with love instead of criticism? Can you feel your own desires without judgment? Can you touch yourself with the same tenderness you'd offer a beloved?
Seriously. This isn't just feel-good talk. This is spiritual practice at its most embodied. When you make peace with your sexuality, you're making peace with being human. You're saying yes to the full spectrum of your experience. You're choosing integration over fragmentation.
I remember working with someone who'd spent decades convinced their sexual desires made them somehow less spiritual. They'd tried to transcend their body, to rise above their appetites. But you can't transcend something by rejecting it. You transcend it by fully embracing it, by bringing consciousness to it, by letting it teach you about love and connection and the miracle of being alive in flesh.
The practice isn't about becoming more sexual or less sexual. It's about becoming more honest. More present. More willing to feel what you feel without the stories that shame has wrapped around those feelings.
And yes, this includes pleasure. Your capacity for pleasure isn't selfish or indulgent. It's a gateway to presence. When you're fully in your body, fully feeling, fully alive to sensation and connection, you're as close to the divine as you'll ever get. That's not heresy. That's truth.
Right? The mystics knew this. They wrote about divine ecstasy using language that sounds suspiciously like, well, ecstasy. They understood that the path to the sacred often runs directly through the sensual. Through the body. Through the willingness to feel everything.
So what does it mean to honor your sexuality as sacred? It means treating your body as a temple, not a battlefield. It means approaching your desires with curiosity instead of judgment. It means understanding that healthy sexuality is always about connection - to yourself, to others, to the life force that moves through all things.
Are you with me? This isn't about being more sexually active or adopting any particular lifestyle. This is about coming home to your own embodied truth. About claiming your right to pleasure, to desire, to the full expression of who you are as a sexual, spiritual being.
Because honestly, when you get this right, when you heal the split between sacred and sexual, you don't just transform your sex life. You transform your whole life. You show up with a different energy. A grounded confidence. A fierce tenderness that the world desperately needs.
That's the real teaching here: your sexuality isn't something to manage or transcend or hide. It's something to honor, to integrate, to celebrate as part of your divine inheritance. Your pleasure matters. Your desires matter. Your body's sacred fire matters.
Here's how you start honoring your sexuality as sacred, and honestly, it's simpler than you might think. Begin with your breath. Sit quietly and breathe deeply into your pelvis, your belly, your whole lower body. Feel the energy there. Don't judge it or try to change it. Just notice it. This is your life force, your creative power, and it deserves your attention.
Next, practice what I call 'sacred self-touch.' This isn't necessarily sexual, though it can be. It's about touching your own body with reverence. Your arms, your face, your belly. Touch yourself the way you'd touch something precious. Feel the miracle of your own aliveness under your hands. Notice how this simple act can shift your whole relationship with your body from criticism to appreciation.
And look, if you're comfortable with it, this absolutely includes sexual self-touch. Masturbation as meditation. Pleasure as prayer. Approach your own body with curiosity and tenderness. Pay attention not just to what feels good, but to what you're feeling emotionally and energetically. Notice how presence transforms pleasure.
Work with mirrors too. Look at your body without immediately going to judgment. See if you can find beauty in what you see. Not just the parts you like, but all of it. Your body is the vehicle for your soul's expression in this lifetime. It deserves your love, not your criticism.
If you're in relationship with someone else, practice bringing this same presence and reverence to your intimate moments together. Slow down. Breathe. Make eye contact. Let physical connection be a gateway to emotional and spiritual connection. Remember: you're not just touching bodies. You're touching souls.
When Sex appears in your reading, it's time to examine your relationship with your own embodied power and sacred sexuality. This card isn't necessarily about having more sex (though it might be). It's about healing the split between your spiritual self and your sexual self, between your desires and your sense of worthiness.
Maybe you've been carrying shame about your sexuality, your desires, your body. Maybe you've been trying to transcend your physical nature instead of embracing it. This card is asking you to come home to your whole self, including the parts you've been taught to hide or apologize for.
Sex might also be calling attention to intimacy issues. Are you truly intimate with yourself? Can you be vulnerable and real with others? Or are you performing sexuality rather than feeling it? This card invites you to drop the performance and show up authentically in your desire and your pleasure.
Sometimes this card appears when you're being called to reclaim your creative power. Sexual energy and creative energy spring from the same source. If you've been feeling blocked creatively, look at your relationship with your sexuality. Healing one often heals the other.
And honestly, Sex might simply be reminding you that pleasure is your birthright. That your body's capacity for joy isn't shameful or selfish. It's sacred. It's part of how you connect with the divine in this human form. Don't apologize for being a beautifully complex sexual spiritual being. Celebrate it.
