The Teaching

Faith isn't about believing in something you can't see. It's about letting go of the desperate need to control everything. Know what I mean? I've watched thousands of people exhaust themselves trying to micromanage their lives, and honestly, it never works out the way they think it will.

Here's the thing about real faith... it's not passive. It's the most active thing you can do. When you truly have faith, you're choosing to participate with life instead of fighting against it. You're saying yes to the mystery. The Taoists call this wu wei, which literally means "non-action," but it's really about acting in harmony with what's already happening. Like water flowing around rocks, right?

In Advaita Vedanta, they use this beautiful word shraddha. It means faith, but not the kind where you're white-knuckling your way through doubt. It's more like... recognition. You recognize that there's an intelligence operating in life that's way bigger than your personal agenda. Think about that. Your heart beats without you thinking about it. Your body heals cuts automatically. Flowers know when to bloom. There's a wisdom here that doesn't need your input.

But here's what's interesting... we've been taught that faith means being weak or naive. Total garbage. Faith is actually the strongest thing you can do because it requires you to face the truth that you're not in control anyway. Are you with me? All that energy you spend trying to force outcomes? It's not working. It's just making you tired.

Look, I get it. Letting go feels scary. Your mind wants to know the plan. It wants guarantees and timelines and detailed instructions. But life doesn't work that way. Life is improvisation. It's jazz, not classical music. And the people who learn to improvise with life... they're the ones who end up dancing instead of stumbling.

Truth is, faith is really about trust. Not trust in some external deity who might or might not answer your prayers the way you want. Trust in the process itself. Trust that there's a current flowing, and when you align with it instead of swimming against it, things start happening in ways that surprise and delight you. Seriously.

I remember when I first started doing readings, I wanted to control everything. I wanted to know exactly what to say before the person even sat down. But the real magic happened when I stopped trying to be the one with all the answers and started trusting that whatever needed to come through would come through. That's when the work became alive.

The ancient texts are full of this wisdom. "Be still and know that I am God." Not "figure out the divine plan and execute it perfectly." Just... be still. Know. Let the knowing come to you instead of chasing after it with your thinking mind.

And here's the wild part... when you really surrender to faith, when you really let go of needing to know how everything's going to work out, you actually become more effective. Not less. More. Because you're working with the flow instead of against it. You're not wasting energy on resistance. You're using that energy to respond to what's actually happening instead of what you think should be happening.

This doesn't mean becoming a doormat or giving up on your dreams. It means holding your dreams lightly. It means showing up fully for what's in front of you while staying open to plot twists you never could have planned. Wild, right?

How to Embody This Teaching

Start small with this one, seriously. Pick something you've been trying to control that honestly isn't working anyway. Maybe it's how fast someone texts you back. Maybe it's when that job offer is going to come through. Whatever it is, just for today, practice letting it go.

Here's a simple practice: when you catch yourself trying to force something, take three deep breaths and say, "I don't need to know right now." Feel what happens in your body when you say that. Notice if there's resistance. Don't try to fix the resistance, just notice it.

Try this thing I call "flow walking." Go outside without a destination. Just start walking and let your feet decide where to go. Turn left because it feels right. Stop when something catches your attention. This teaches your nervous system what it feels like to trust the moment instead of having a plan for everything.

And here's the big one... practice saying "I don't know" more often. When someone asks you what's going to happen with your relationship, your career, your life... if you honestly don't know, say that. "I don't know, but I'm curious to find out." There's so much freedom in those words. Are you with me? Not knowing becomes an adventure instead of a problem.

When This Card Appears

When Faith shows up in your reading, it's time to stop pushing so hard. Right? You've been trying to make something happen through sheer force of will, and the universe is asking you to try a different approach. This card is saying that what you're looking for is already on its way, but you need to get out of your own way first.

This isn't about giving up or becoming passive. It's about recognizing that there's a timing to things that has nothing to do with your personal timeline. Think about that. The butterfly doesn't force its way out of the cocoon... it emerges when it's ready. Your situation is the same.

Faith is also asking you to examine where you're trying to control outcomes instead of influencing them. There's a difference. You can show up, you can do your part, you can plant seeds... but you can't make the garden grow faster by pulling on the shoots. Know what I mean?

If you've been feeling anxious or overwhelmed lately, this card is your permission slip to relax into not knowing. The answers you need will come, but they might not look like what you expected. Stay open. Trust the process. Let life surprise you.
