Kensho Integration: Living as No One Kensho is a Japanese Zen Buddhist term that literally means "seeing one's nature" - a direct recognition of your true nature or Buddha-nature.

It's that initial glimpse or awakening into what's actually real beneath all the constructed identity.

Zen itself came from Chan Buddhism in China, which blended Indian Mahayana Buddhism with Taoist philosophy, which later migrated to Japan.

The way we talk about kensho in the West was heavily influenced by writers like D.T. Suzuki in the 20th century, especially as Zen opened up to lay practitioners.
