From a Xerox office to ashrams across continents, comedy stages, near-death in an ice stream, and 10,000 intuitive readings. This is not a bio. This is the fire that forged everything you see on this site.
Read the StoryChapter One
I was twenty-three years old, sitting in a cubicle at Xerox, answering phones and filing documents for people who had no idea what was happening inside of me. On the outside, I was a secretary. Efficient. Polite. Forgettable. On the inside, I was drowning in visions I could not explain, feelings that did not belong to me, and a knowing so loud it made my teeth ache.
I could feel the woman three cubicles over grieving her mother. I knew my boss was about to get fired before he did. I would pick up the phone and know who was calling and what they needed before they spoke. Not sometimes. Every time. And I had absolutely no framework for any of it.
I did not grow up in a spiritual household. Nobody taught me about clairvoyance or empathic sensitivity or the subtle body. I grew up in a world where you got a job, paid your bills, watched television, and called that a life. The fact that I could feel the emotional weather of every person in a fifty-foot radius was not a gift anyone had prepared me for. It was a problem. A big one.
So I did what most people do when they are experiencing something they cannot explain. I ignored it. I drank. I performed. I became funny, because humor was the only way to discharge the voltage running through me without anyone noticing. And for a while, that worked.
"I was not seeking enlightenment. I was seeking relief. The seeking found me."
The turning point came through a woman named Karmu. She was a psychic, a real one, not the kind who advertises on late-night television. She looked at me once and said, "You already know everything I could tell you. You just refuse to believe it." That sentence cracked something open. Not gently. Like a bone breaking so it could set properly.
Karmu did not teach me to be psychic. She taught me to stop pretending I was not. She showed me that the sensitivity I had been medicating and performing around was not a malfunction. It was the entire point. The visions, the knowing, the unbearable empathy that made me want to crawl out of my own skin in crowded rooms, all of it was the instrument. I had just never been shown how to play it.
Chapter Two
Here is something nobody tells you about spiritual awakening: it does not look like what you think. It does not look like a monastery or a meditation cushion or a retreat in Bali. For me, it looked like comedy clubs at two in the morning, touring across the country, making rooms full of strangers laugh until they cried, while I was secretly reading the Bhagavad Gita in the green room and studying with masters nobody in the audience had ever heard of.
I became a comedian because I was good at it. Five-time EMMY Award-winning writer. Children's television host. The whole trajectory. But the comedy was never the destination. It was the cover story. While the entertainment industry saw a performer, I was crossing continents looking for anyone who had actually woken up. Not people who talked about awakening. People who had done it.
I sat with teachers in India who had not spoken in twenty years. I studied with Native American elders who taught me ceremonies that have been practiced for thousands of years. I learned Transcendental Meditation, the Sedona Method, Ho'oponopono. I studied Advaita Vedanta until the words stopped being philosophy and started being experience. I was not collecting spiritual experiences like souvenirs. I was looking for the one thing that would make the noise stop and the truth start.
"The comedy was the exhale. The seeking was the breath itself."
During those years, I built companies and lost them. I fell in love with a woman named Margie and watched that relationship teach me everything I thought I already knew about attachment, projection, and the difference between loving someone and needing them to complete you. That failure, and it was a failure, became one of the most important teachings of my life. Not because I learned some tidy lesson. Because it burned away a version of me that needed to die so the real work could begin.
I do not romanticize that pain. It was ugly. It was years of grief that no amount of meditation could shortcut. And that is exactly the point I make to every client who sits across from me now: you cannot bypass the fire. You can only walk through it. The spiritual teachers who tell you otherwise are selling you a lie wrapped in lavender.
Chapter Three

Paul with Amma
Then I met Amma. Mata Amritanandamayi. The Hugging Saint. And everything I thought I understood about devotion, service, and the capacity of a human being to embody unconditional love was obliterated in a single embrace.
Amma did not teach me through words. She taught me through presence. Through the way she would hold someone for thirty seconds and that person would walk away changed at the cellular level. Through the way she could sit for eighteen hours straight, embracing thousands of people, and the last person received the same quality of love as the first. That is not performance. That is what it looks like when a human being has actually dissolved the boundary between self and other.
She asked me to deliver keynote presentations at her events. For over twenty years, I stood in front of her devotees and spoke about the work of transformation, the real work, the kind that does not fit on an Instagram tile. Those years with Amma taught me what devotion actually means. Not worship. Not submission. Devotion as the complete offering of yourself to something larger than your story.
"Amma did not teach me to love. She showed me that I had never stopped."
Chapter Four
There is a place in the Pecos Wilderness of New Mexico where the trees thin out and the sky opens up and you realize, with a clarity that hits like a fist, that you are completely alone with whatever you have been running from. I went there on a vision quest. Not the weekend retreat version. The real thing. Days alone in the wilderness with nothing but a sleeping bag, water, and every unresolved piece of my psyche screaming for attention.
On the third night, a bear came. Not a metaphorical bear. A real, breathing, enormous bear that stood fifteen feet from where I was sitting and looked at me with eyes that held no malice and no mercy. Just presence. Pure, animal, undeniable presence. In that moment, every spiritual concept I had ever studied became irrelevant. There was no Advaita Vedanta. There was no Buddhism. There was no technique. There was me, and there was a bear, and there was the raw fact of being alive.
The bear left. I did not sleep. And something in me that had been holding on for decades finally let go. Not because I chose to. Because the wilderness does not negotiate with your ego. It simply waits until your ego runs out of material.
"The wilderness does not negotiate with your ego. It simply waits until your ego runs out of material."
Months later, I nearly died in an ice stream. Hypothermia. The kind where your body stops shivering because it has given up trying to warm itself and starts shutting down systems instead. I was in the water longer than I should have been, and in those minutes, something happened that I have never been able to fully articulate. The boundary between my body and the water dissolved. Not poetically. Literally. I could not tell where I ended and the stream began.
I did not see a white light. I did not have a life review. What I had was an experience of such complete dissolution that when I was pulled out and my body started working again, I understood, in my bones, not my mind, that the self I had been protecting my entire life was a fiction. A useful fiction. A necessary fiction. But a fiction nonetheless. And the thing underneath it, the thing that had been there before the fiction started and would be there after it ended, that thing was what every master I had ever studied with was pointing toward.
Chapter Five
After the wilderness, after the ice, after Amma, after thirty years of sitting at the feet of masters and walking through every fire I could find, things started coming through me. Not from me. Through me. The distinction matters.
The Personality Cards came first, born from a dream so vivid I woke up and started writing and did not stop for weeks. Seventy-eight cards in one deck, each one a mirror for a specific aspect of the human personality. A powerful oracle deck revealing the masks you wear and hidden truths within. Not tarot. Not oracle cards in the way most people understand them. A tool for seeing yourself and others clearly - for understanding your relationships, your life, what inspires you, what triggers you. The card spreads help you answer questions about your life and the people in it. The Blended Soul app now carries these cards to thousands of people worldwide.
Then came The Shankara Oracle. A vast, multidimensional divination system that took years to create: a lavishly designed oracle board, four card decks with over three hundred cards, eighteen polished black obsidian divination stones, Shakti's Cube, a question die, and two comprehensive booklets. This was not a product I designed. It was a transmission I received during a decade of communion with what I can only describe as Light-Beings. Beings of pure consciousness who communicated through imagery, feeling, and direct knowing.
I know how that sounds. I know that sentence makes some people close the browser tab. Good. This work is not for everyone. It is for the people who read that sentence and feel something stir in their chest, something that says, "Yes. I know exactly what he means." Those are my people.

Explore the Cards โThe books followed. The Electric Rose: A Liberation Manual is the closest thing to a complete map of everything I have learned, practiced, and embodied over three decades. It is not a self-help book. It is a field guide for people who are done with self-help and ready for self-liberation. Holy Shift is the companion piece, the practical application, the "here is how you actually do this in your daily life" manual. Forensic Forgiveness dismantles the toxic positivity version of forgiveness and replaces it with a systematic excavation process that actually works.
Every one of these creations came from the same place: the intersection of thirty years of practice, thousands of hours with awakened masters, and the willingness to let something move through me that I did not fully understand. I am not the source. I am the instrument. The source is the same thing that sent the bear, froze the stream, and put Amma's arms around me. I just learned to stop getting in its way.
Chapter Six
Over the past fifteen years, I have performed more than ten thousand intuitive readings. Ten thousand times, someone has sat across from me, physically or through a screen, and opened the most vulnerable parts of their life. Their marriages. Their addictions. Their childhood wounds. Their terror of dying without having truly lived. Their secret belief that they are fundamentally broken and that no amount of therapy, meditation, or prayer will fix them.
Every single one of them was wrong about that last part. Not a single person who has sat with me was broken. Buried, yes. Compressed under layers of ancestral karma, cultural conditioning, relational trauma, and their own accumulated patterns. But broken? Never. Not once. The light was always there. It was just covered in so much debris that they had forgotten it existed.
My job is not to heal people. My job is to show them where the debris is, hand them the tools to clear it, and then get out of the way while they do the work. I am not a guru. I am not a savior. I am a clairvoyant with thirty years of training, an EMMY-winning ability to communicate complex truths in ways that land, and an absolute refusal to let anyone stay comfortable in their suffering when liberation is available.
That is what I do. That is what all of this, the Xerox cubicle, the comedy stages, the ashrams, the wilderness, the ice stream, the bear, Amma, the cards, the oracle, the books, that is what all of it was preparing me for. Not a career. A calling. The kind you cannot refuse because it is not yours to refuse. It belongs to something larger, and you are simply the vehicle it chose.
"I am not a guru. I am a clairvoyant with thirty years of training and an absolute refusal to let anyone stay comfortable in their suffering when liberation is available."
Every reading, every coaching session, every card in the oracle, every word in the books comes from this journey. Not theory. Not concepts. Thirty years of walking through fire and coming back with something real.
