Retreat imagery is illustrative. The 2027 location has not been selected.
You have done the work alone long enough, and some part of you already knows there is still something that has not shifted. You have read the books, tried the approaches, sat with the questions—and there can still be a weight, a pattern, or a feeling you cannot quite name but cannot seem to shake. That does not mean you are broken. Understanding is not the same as freedom.
The Ascent Within is being shaped as a future retreat for people who are ready to go past talking about change and meet the place inside where change actually happens. Not to become someone more impressive. Not to collect another spiritual identity. To become less divided, to listen to what the body has been trying to say, and to remember the person beneath the roles, fear, habit, and borrowed expectations.
This is an interest-only invitation for October 2027. The location, exact dates, retreat length, daily rhythm, venue, travel, accommodations, price, and registration details have not been set. What is clear is the heart of the work: direct teaching, spiritual practice, honest inquiry, ritual, play, and enough room to stay with what appears after the first answer. If that speaks to you, you are welcome to raise your hand and receive the real details when they are ready.

The future format is still being formed; the heart of the work is direct practice, honest inquiry, and integration.
A future retreat shaped for sustained teaching, practice, reflection, and integration—not a quick reset or a sightseeing package
Inner Critic Work, breathwork, sacred sound, meditation, chanting, ceremony, and playful expression drawn from Paul's existing retreat teaching
Direct, personal teaching with room for questions, quiet observation, rest, and a pace that is honest for you
A practice-centered approach: less collecting ideas, more direct experience of what is true in the body and in your life
Teaching rooted in Paul's decades of devotion, direct study, intuitive work, and experience with ancient spiritual traditions
Interest only: no ticket, payment, reservation, itinerary, destination, or commitment is attached to expressing interest

Transformation does not happen through more thinking. It happens through direct experience, at a pace that leaves room to notice what is true.

Practice 01
One of the most powerful processes Paul teaches is meeting the voice that has quietly shaped your life for years and recognizing that it is not who you are. This is not about arguing with yourself into a better mood. It is precise, compassionate work with the stories, conclusions, and roles that have been mistaken for the self. A future retreat may make room to stay with that work longer than a brief gathering allows.

Practice 02
The body holds truth the thinking mind often cannot reach. Paul's retreat teaching works with breath, stillness, gentle attention, and sacred sound so that what has been carried can be felt without having to be endlessly explained. The invitation is to listen to the body rather than make it prove anything, and to let experience have a voice alongside insight.

Practice 03
Conscious breathwork and vocal toning are ways of working directly with the body's energy rather than only with the mind's commentary. You do not have to understand every feeling before you can meet it. The practice is an invitation to breathe, sound, notice, and allow what is ready to soften—without forcing a particular emotional result.

Practice 04
Meditation, chanting, sacred ceremony, and timeless spiritual practices invite attention beyond explanation and into direct experience. These are not decorations around a talk. In Paul's teaching, they are practical ways to return, again and again, to presence, devotion, and the part of you that does not need to perform for anyone.

Practice 05
Transformation is not only found in silence. Movement, improvisation, theatrical exercises, and playful expression can let us step outside roles we have been protecting for years. There is no prize for being polished, serious, or spiritually correct. Sometimes honest laughter, a willingness to be a little ridiculous, and an embodied experiment reveal more than another perfect explanation.

Practice 06
A retreat gives time to return to a question after the first answer has worn off. Paul brings ancient teachings, personal inquiry, reflection, group work, and questions into a connected arc rather than offering ideas to admire from a distance. The point is not to manufacture a breakthrough. It is to notice what becomes possible when direct experience, repetition, ritual training, and integration have room to work together.
A short gathering can open a door. Retreat work gives you time to stay with what appears after the first answer. The intention for The Ascent Within is depth without performance: time away from the usual momentum, teaching practical enough to test in your own life, and a setting in which you do not have to pretend you are further along than you are. No spiritual résumé is required. A sincere willingness to look is enough.
Many of us live from the neck up, running life through the mind's endless commentary. But the body holds truth the mind cannot reach. Through breath, sound, stillness, movement, reflection, and direct spiritual practice, Paul’s existing retreat teaching invites you to listen to what your body has been trying to tell you and finally let it speak. You may participate wholeheartedly, ask questions, sit quietly, pause, or rest. Listening is participation. Observation is participation.
Nothing about this interest page is a promise of a specific itinerary or outcome. The future retreat’s final format is still being formed. But the established intention is clear: make room for real practice, real questions, and the kind of honest attention that does not use spiritual language as another place to hide.
The work is not about chasing a dramatic experience or forcing a breakthrough. It is about recognizing the self beneath fear, habit, and borrowed expectations—and bringing that recognition into the next conversation, the next choice, and the next ordinary morning. Paul’s approach is warm but unsentimental: compassion for the human condition, and a clear invitation not to use it as a hiding place.
There are old stories many people have mistaken for themselves: the inner critic, the responsibility for everyone else’s emotions, the reflex to manage the room, the belief that safety comes from never being seen. In the existing retreat work, these can be met through inner-voice work, somatic awareness, sacred sound, meditation, chanting, inquiry, and play. The aim is not to erase your history. It is to see more clearly what is still running your life and what is ready to be released.
You do not need to agree with every idea, disclose your history publicly, or perform an emotional experience. The work asks for directness, not compliance. Bring your real skepticism, your real longing, your real question. Let your own experience be part of the authority.

Mystic · Clairvoyant · Intuitive Reader
I'm Paul Wagner. I have been walking this path for more than 35 years—not as a philosophy, not as a brand, but as the central organizing fact of my life. I have sat at Amma's feet, trained with Native American elder shamans, done more than 10,000 intuitive readings, and created The Shankara Oracle. I walked away from Hollywood and five Emmy Awards because nothing has mattered as much as watching someone finally put down what they have been carrying.
I do not teach from theory. I teach from the scars, from years of releasing grief before I understood what was moving through me, from dark nights, and from the mornings when grace showed up anyway. I am a former comedian who can hold the weight of a deep question and make you laugh in the same breath—because both are sacred, and both belong to the work.
My gift is cutting through what is not real: the bypassing dressed as healing, the performance dressed as transformation, the comfort dressed as depth. The question is always what is actually true for you, in this body, at this moment of your life. That is the work The Ascent Within is being shaped to serve.
The Ascent Within
One of the greatest gifts we can receive is to be truly seen: beyond the roles we play, the masks we have learned to wear, and who we have been trying to become. For more than 35 years, Paul has worked as a clairvoyant healer and intuitive reader, helping people see what they cannot yet see for themselves. Sometimes it is an old belief quietly shaping an entire life. Sometimes it is a gift hidden beneath years of fear or responsibility. Sometimes it is simply recognizing the extraordinary person that has been there all along.
Paul does not teach the same retreat twice. The teaching responds to what is ready to be seen, understood, and released in the people who gather. That does not mean an attendee must surrender discernment or force intensity. It means the work is alive: direct teaching can be met with reflection, questions can be met with practice, and a person can choose quiet attention when that is what is true.
The future location and logistics are unannounced. The human invitation remains the same: no performance, no spiritual résumé, and no demand to become someone else before you are allowed to belong.
The Ascent Within
Paul has been walking this path for more than 35 years—not as a philosophy or a brand, but as the central organizing fact of his life. His existing retreat source speaks of sitting at Amma’s feet, being her devotee for decades, training with Native American elder shamans, spending years in ceremony, completing more than 10,000 intuitive readings, and leaving Hollywood and five Emmy Awards because this work mattered more.
That context matters because the practices are not offered as borrowed wisdom from books. Paul teaches from direct experience, devotion, practice, the scars, the dark nights, and the mornings when grace showed up anyway. He is also a former comedian, which means gravity and laughter do not have to be opposites. The teaching can be loving, direct, playful, irreverent, and occasionally strong in its language—while staying grounded in genuine care and personal responsibility.
As Paul says in the existing retreat source: “The practices I share aren't mine. They belong to a lineage of awakened beings who understood that liberation is available to everyone—not just monks on mountaintops.”
