While my original goal was to help you embody your core nature, deep forgiveness and allowing, and the most real awareness imaginable, I gave you egoistic distractions, beer yoga, and expensive leotards. In my confusion and Self-obsession, I encouraged you to be WOKE, judgmental, conspiratorial, non-conversant, inauthentic, even delusional. I may have even encouraged you to be a mermaid. Ugh. Another enlightened guy telling us how to live? But damn if Tolle didn't cut through the spiritual bullshit and actually explain presence in a way that makes sense. No flowery metaphors about cosmic consciousness or whatever. Just: stop thinking so much, notice what's happening right now, and quit torturing yourself with mental stories. Simple. Powerful. What got me was how he talked about the voice in your head like it was this separate thing - not you, just mental noise. Think about that. Most of us spend our entire lives believing we ARE that voice, that constant commentary. Tolle basically said "nah, you're the awareness behind it." That shift alone? It can save your sanity. I've watched people read this book and suddenly realize they don't have to believe every damn thought that pops up. Game changer.

Healing and growth cannot occur by simply ignoring or bypassing our wounds and disenfranchised emotions. Even though I tried, it’s not possible to affirmation-away the darkness or manipulate others into feeling temporarily “awesome” with the hope it lands us or others somewhere beautiful. Admittedly, I love the sound of us all being Starseeds or star people from distant lands with a purpose of transforming the planet by making love with Grays and remembering our Atlantis past lives, but this is mostly delusion. As much as it’s a lovely distraction to contrive a story around being from Pleiades, you’re probably just a normal human, weary from lifeless marriage and listless from credit card debt. I acknowledge that, in some cases, I have steered you away from confronting your pain and encouraged a superficial focus on positive thinking and a false sense of belonging to a walled garden and fake-happy tribe.
